cab XC4 Labels & Ribbons
IndustrialX Series (XC / XD)
The cab XC4 is an industrial thermal transfer printer, one of 4 models in the X Series (XC / XD) range. It prints up to 4.16" wide and takes media up to 4.72". Media loads as rolls up to 11.81" in diameter on cores of 3", and fanfold stacks are supported too. Ribbons run up to 1,181 ft, 4.49" wide, on a 1" core.

cab XC4 — Frequently Asked Questions
Is the cab XC4 direct thermal or thermal transfer?
The cab XC4 is thermal transfer only. It prints through a thermal ribbon onto label stock, giving print that resists heat, light and abrasion. It cannot print on direct thermal labels without a ribbon.
What size ribbon does the cab XC4 use?
The cab XC4 takes thermal transfer ribbons up to 4.49" wide, up to 1,181 ft (360 m) long, on a 1" core, wound either coated side in or out. Wax suits coated paper labels, wax-resin handles synthetics and heavier handling, and full resin is the choice for chemical, solvent and outdoor exposure.
What label sizes fit the cab XC4?
The cab XC4 accepts media up to 4.72" wide, with a maximum print width of 4.16". Any narrower label will run as well, so long as the roll core and outside diameter also fit the media bay — width alone is not enough.
What roll core size does the cab XC4 take?
The cab XC4 takes rolls on 3" cores, with a maximum roll diameter of 11.81". A roll on a larger core will not seat on the spindle, and one over the diameter limit will not let the cover close.
Can the cab XC4 use fanfold labels?
Yes. The cab XC4 accepts fan-folded stacks as well as rolls. A fanfold box holds far more labels than a roll of equivalent footprint, so it is the cheaper way to run high volume — the trade-off is bench space behind the printer.
Does the cab XC4 take 3-inch core rolls?
Yes — 3" cores are the industrial standard and the cab XC4 is built for them, which is what lets it hold the large-diameter rolls that keep reload stops down.
Why won't my label roll fit the cab XC4?
Three things stop a roll loading in this printer: the roll is over 11.81" in diameter; the core is not 3". Label width is usually the first thing people check and the least likely culprit — core size is the common one.
Where can I buy labels and ribbons for the cab XC4 in Canada?
Vantage Labels stocks blank thermal labels and printer ribbons that fit the cab XC4, shipped from Canadian stock. Everything listed on this page has been checked against the printer's published media specifications — width, core, roll diameter and ribbon format — rather than matched on the printer's name.
