Ink side is not uniform across Citizen: the CL-S600, CL-S700 and CL-E700 series take ribbon wound either way, but the CL-E321 and CL-E331 are outer winding only. The CL-S521 and CL-E300 are direct thermal only and take no ribbon. The CL-E720 and CL-E730 hold an 8" roll in a desktop body.
